Tranquilo is a project founded by Gisela and Adrià in Barcelona in 2023, born from the fusion of Japanese culture and the Mediterranean lifestyle. It stems from our shared interest in Asian gastronomy and design, combined with the direct influence of Barcelona and its open and aesthetic approach to spaces and products. From the outset, we have worked with matcha as a product of defined origin, selecting it directly in Japan and managing its import and distribution in Spain within a regulated and transparent framework. We focus on traceability, quality control, and consistency at every stage of the process.

El origen y la selección

We traveled to Japan to visit the plantations we work with and gain a complete understanding of the production process. We met with producers, toured the fields, and explored every stage in depth, from harvesting to milling.
We source our matcha directly from origin, prioritizing balance in flavor, natural color vibrancy, and consistent quality. We offer different grades to suit a variety of preferences and consumption styles, ranging from everyday matcha to exclusive cultivars and limited-production harvests. We distribute across Europe with full control and traceability at every stage.

ACCESSORIES

Matcha is linked to specific accessories used in its preparation in Japan. We were interested in preserving this cultural connection, adapting it to a contemporary language that aligns with our identity. We developed accessories that respect their original function while reinterpreting their aesthetic from a modern perspective, integrating tradition and design into pieces intended for everyday use.

CERAMICS AND LOCAL COLLABORATION

We work with local ceramicists and artists to develop pieces that complement the preparation and consumption of matcha. These collaborations allow us to integrate the product into a broader creative context and connect Japanese tradition with contemporary design. Each piece is produced respecting artisanal processes and the unique style of each workshop, reinforcing our intention to unite culture, craft, and gastronomy within a single offering.
